MANZANITA MUSING

A big THANKS to all of you who have been supporting our new endeavor!

OUR OPENING

We brewed our first batch of Manzanita on June 6th and have brewed 15 batches since then. Our grand opening on July 10th; was just that - absolutely grand! Almost 500 people attended! We were truly blessed to have our friends assist us with all the provisions that needed consistent attention. All the volunteers were sporting our Manzanita T-shirts which are still available! Thanks to the band “Soul of the River” http://www.souloftheriver.com/ for the upbeat music and to “Pinnacle Peak” www.pinnaclepeaksteakhouse.com/ for tri-tip beef, chicken, and hamburgers. We also want to thank the Santee Chamber of Commerce for being present at our ribbon-cutting. And kudos to Garry who “brewed” that delicious root beer that folks had wanted (unsuccessfully) to buy!

GROWLERS

Do you know about the Manzanita Growler Club? If you buy nine growler fills, you get the 10th free! For you novices, a Manzanita growler is a custom jug that holds two liters of freshly brewed draft ale. Stop into our tasting room and sample our five varieties, from Riverwalk (Blonde) to IPA (Indian Pale Ale).

NAME OUR ALE CONTEST

Have a great name for our red ale and our brown ale? (We’re looking for an east county theme, such as “riverwalk” as a name for the blonde ale). Please submit your suggestions to contest@manzanitabrewing.com by August 31st. be sure to include your name and email address. Winners will receive a Manzanita Growler and 10 fills! You must be 21 years of age or older. Enter as many times as you want. All entries will become the property of Manzanita Brewing. Winners will be announced September 3rd.

CURRENT HAPPENINGS

  • We went to a monthly QUAFF (Quality Ale and Fermentation Fraternity) meeting where the members sampled our beer - with very good results!
  • A local film production crew is filming a documentary on craft brewing in San Diego. We were interviewed at our brew house in July. They are planning to release a DVD early next year, and hope to show it at film festivals.
  • The Celebrator Beer News Magazine, published bi-monthly, will have a review of Manzanita beer. The review should be in the August-September issue. You can subscribe to hard copy, or look online at celebration.com

NEW AT THE BREWERY

To keep up with the demand, we will be adding seven new fermenters and one bright tank (that carbonates beer!). We also have a new set of hands during brew hours; Alex has been an apprentice before but at MBC he gets more hands on. Welcome Alex!
